Insurance Institute of Fudan University
Introduction
Established in 1996,Fudan International
Insurance Institute is an important research institute within
the Economics School of Fudan University. Up till now, the
Institute has already formed a complete system from bachelor,
master to Ph.D. and combines various functions of teaching,
researching and training.
Fudan University is among those first institutions that
began the teaching and researching of insurance. As early
as in 1980 when domestic insurance was just resumed in China,
People's Bank of China Shanghai Branch signed a 10-year
contract with the Economics Department of Fudan University,
consigning Fudan to train leading cadres.
In May 1987, Fudan, together with PICC
and UNCTAD, hosted "Seminar on the Operation of Insurance
Enterprises". Facing the rapid development of China
insurance industry, the International Insurance Research
Institute of Fudan University was thus established.
The Institute currently has 10researchers,including 7research
assistant. In recent years, the International Insurance
Institute of Fudan University led or participated in the
writing and compiling of a number of books, including Insurance,
Encyclopedia of China Insurance, Contemporary Insurance
of China and China Insurance Dictionary , which have broad
influence in the insurance industry. Among them, Contemporary
Insurance of China, a book of the Contemporary China Series,
won high award for its academic excellence. Major author
from the Institute was warmly interviewed by Chair JIANG
Zhemin and ZHU Rongji. Other than that, Series of Insurance
Knowledge, a 12-book collection, wins wide applause.
Despite its relatively short history, the Institute had
already had a collection of valuable research outputs. "The
Distinction Between Commercial Insurance and Social Insurance",
a research task onsigned by China Insurance Society, has
already completed; "research on Shanghai Social Insurance
System", consigned by Shanghai Municipal Government,
is near and end; many other research tasks are also in process.
